I live in Duluth, Minnesota. I’m passionate about color, line, and form and the infinite ways these play out in paintings and mosaics. If you want to know more about me, click on the About button above. If you’re interested in an original work or a commissioned work, email me and I’ll respond pretty quickly.
I am fascinated by the way in which bits and pieces, not much to look at in themselves, can come together to create patterns of interest, creating new relationships, new wholes. Using recycled and natural materials creates still more new relationships and contrasts.
In painting, I’m especially fascinated by transitions—late fall, early spring, twilight, dawn—when outlines are blurred, boundaries disappear, great swatches of color startle me with their brilliance. These times might lack the showy brilliance of high season or bright daylight, but the subtleties can be even more beautiful if you take the time.
In February 2013, I decided I needed more discipline in the form of drawing or painting every day. So every day since then I have posted a drawing or painting of one of my cats, Roscoe and Patterson. The plan was to continue for 100 days. Now I’m at day 200+. How long can it go on? Stay tuned.
